First time shooting for a Top 25 match up and could not have asked for a better place to begin other than Murray State University.
It was a day of firsts for me, one including Murray’s arena – no idea what to imagine, walked in and saw a full crowd ready for the show down. Murray had taken its team to the best start and highest ranking (No.7) in program history plus Dickie V was in the house and they were about to be on national television.
The atmosphere was amazing. I don’t think the crowd sat down once and I loved every minute of their school spirit. I met several other photographers (all secretly pulling for Murray State) and kind of eye-stalked the Sports Illustrated photographer to see what he would be doing – always fun times there.
I enjoyed shooting in the smaller venue because all the photographers were not battling for the best position in the house nor were we sitting on top of one another – so the only time you smelled body odor was when the basketball players got a little too close.
And of course, Dickie V was in great spirits being at Murray and the crowd loved it! Yes, it is a must-do-this-again kind of thing.
Paul Halfacre - And you said you didn’t think you got the dunk picture…BRAVO! Great pictures!! 😀
Megan Stearman - Ha – I didn’t want to be sure that I got it. Those LCD screens can be so tricky! But thank you very much
