2010 was the last time I could remember shooting swim meets outdoors and I forgot how fun it is to be outside shooting rather than indoors. This time around I was working for Pro Swim Visuals at the Hinsdale Classic in Hinsdale, Illinois.
Other than removing the issue of poor lighting, the water and the swimmer appear much more vibrant than when you shoot swimming indoor. The constant change in the positioning of the sun throughout the day can add to the dramatic lighting of your subject.
Aside from being sunburned very badly on my left leg and evenly tanned on my right I would say my weekend was well worth the trip up to Illinois. I could do without the toll roads which makes me very grateful Kentucky doesn’t have those…
